While in Chennai to do my daughter birth cert and passport at the embassy, we took the opportunity to go for sightseeing too. We hired a driver via FastTrack for a few hours. Luckily the driver we got this time is good. He can speak very good English and will suggest where we should go.
First stop we went to Valluvar Kottam Monument
Just for photo taking and nothing to shout about. It used to be a car.
Next we went to San Thome Church. It was built in the 16th century by Portugues explorers, over the tomb of St Thomas, an apostle of Jesus.
We have to take out shoes while we enter the main building. There will be someone who will ask for donation. They went to my hubby and ask for donation, when my hubby pull out Rs20, that person rejected. Well that;s all my hubby had and she think it's too little?
There are three churches built over the tomb for Apostles. St.Peter's at Rome and St.Jame's at Spain are the other two. We been to St. Peter's when we are at the Vatican, so out of 3 we've been to 2. Spain is definately in our to go list.
Next we went to Marundeeswarar Temple. I didnt go in as shoes needed to be taken off. My hubby went in to have a look see only as no photography is allowed to. Nothing much actually. BUT the souvenier shop outside this temple is the cheapest i've seen. We bought so many elephant wood carving there. It cost only Rs30 to Rs50. They have it in key chain, different sizes.
Along the beach, we just past through by car. Didn't bother to go down as it look dirty.
Lunch we went for Thai food in a restaurant name Benjarong. They served quite a good Thai meal.
We had the free appetiser. You take the leaf and shape it like a cone and put all the ingredient in with a few drop of the sauce. It tasted good!
Ton Yum soup is a must have in Thai restaurant
Pandan chicken
Green curry
I could eat a lot of rice with this curry. So yummy.
I could say that this maybe the best Thai food i had in India over a year. Too bad they don't have sticky rice pudding with mango as it is not the mango season. Else that will be great.
